I’m back from a trip to the Wallowa Mountains. I remember you telling me they were the ‘Oregon Alps’ and it was a space that always stuck with me.
That all tracks, based on this picture.

But I couldn’t help but notice during my hobbit LARPing portion of the weekend was the lack of educational signs. My friends were unaware this was a direct result of our current administration and its attack on readily available information. I know that many feel the same connection to nature as I do (frankly, I would want nothing to do with them if they didn’t) but the ease at which these sites can slip through our fingers is… unnerving.

The importance of conservation efforts in Wallowa County can’t be surmised in one blog post; but the impact would be felt far and wide without it. From erosion protection, to grassland conservation, to wildlife protection and drought concerns… the tasks are daunting.
We watched Titan A.E. (the underrated animated cinematic masterpiece) and I couldn’t help but have my stomach churn watching humanity dissipate. It wasn’t about humans, though. It was about all the other species we left behind. Gods, it hurt.
There are currently several conservation efforts in order, and PGE was shut down from putting yet another power line through Forest Park in Portland.

I haven’t heard from their energy conservation committee since I was…forthcoming…. with my disappointment on their current spending agendas and my lack of faith in putting the best interest of Oregonians at the forefront of their process.
The summary of all of this is that the generalized efforts of environmental conservation feels bleak against the ostentatious display of removal of education across America. It’s disheartening, and I feel preoccupied with fighting the helplessness more than fighting the rich. My $25 a month certainly helps keep the doors open, but for how long? What is the long term fix?
There are several conservation communities currently holding down tree-forts to fight off deforestation. I’ve always wanted to live amongst the trees… hmm…

Genuinely, how can you look at this and go, “Nah, I’ma build a pipeline or some shit.” This ain’t Texas.
I know this isn’t eloquent, it’s truly a tantrum at the abysmal treatment of our one, ONE earth. Like other intelligent life would go “Oh, that wasn’t your fault, it’s okay! Come, come, come have a blankie and this sweet drink that will remind you of spiced cocoa.” Please. They’d take one look at our mess and go “HA! Oh man, you’re fucked. Later, losers.” whilest making whatever hand (tentacle? energy limb?) gesture that emulate the middle finger at us.
Anyway; I love you, I miss you, Gods my brain is messy, but I’m okay.
